Hey,
If you get this message, it means that the file being read by your PC or software is corrupted. However, it does not mean all the data is lost forever. When data is transfered, it is
usually in small blocks and each block is given a CRC value.
If something goes wrong with the data between the time it leaves the source and arrives at its destination, the CRC sent at the source will no longer match the one that is calculated when the data arrives - this is when the cyclic redundancy check error will appear.

And in that case I suggest you uni-stall that Sims and contact the customer support for a New Sims disk because that one is corrupt.

Just re-install the new....

Let me know if that helped

Good luck

The best thing to do when you get an error message like that is to type it into google. Surely someone somewhere has had the same issue and written about it.

No need to wait on people to answer here, because honestly, even though I am a computer expert, that is exactly what I would do for you.

I'd rather teach you how to catch your own fish then give you fish :)

Besides, there is almost always some other minor detail in the configuration, and youcan compare your situatin to that reported by others.

Of course if you want my help in detail, I do this for a living and guarantee satisfaction as promptly as possible.

As they say, you can have cheap, you can have quality, and you can have fast. But only 2 out of the 3.:)

If you want quality and not fast, without worrying about cheap, feel free to contact me off list here for more. But I bet google will get you through this one and many more errors in the future...

Cabs are MS Windows archive programs.
And your computer can't read it off of your CD or DVD.

You e: drive is having problems reading the file named data3.cab. Since it can't read that file, it can't put it onto your machine and it can't unarchive it so that you won't be able to install the program.

You need to contact the company that provided the disk or CD and either get a new one or download the archive file.

Believe it or not athlonxp81 could be right as is stever002.

Cyclic Redundancy Check or "CRC" is a method to make sure that the .cab or cabinet file is not damaged. As the file is decompressed, a checksum of sorts is kept and then compared with what the checksum should be in an undamaged file. If the two do not agree, then you have a CRC error and the file is deemed damaged and unusable.

The disk may be physically damaged or just dirty and in need of cleaning.

It means you have greasy finger marks on the CD. Clean it.
