My roomate won't clean up after herself - keeps dishes dirty, puts food in the disposal and doesnt get rid of it, backs up into sink when we use dishwasher, lets food go bad in the fridge, doesnt keep the common areas clean.

Refuses to pitch in for couch covers we got because of the dog hair all over the place because of her dog . Doesnt clean up after her dog (which is not allowed, according to our lease) and now she's got her squatter bf at our house too.

He was actually sitting on the couch when I got off work, talking about how happy he was that he got to sit around and do nothing all day...should I tell our landlord before both dog and bf are here so long that the bills get high because of them?

Maybe I'm asking an obvious question, but what would you do? I need some help here, before things get nasty! I want to do this in a civil way, we're all adults here.

Only go to the landlord as a last resort. If you can move without breaking your lease move. She will not change because of anything you say. If you tell the landlord, and she has to get rid of the dog, you will be living with a oerson that despises you. She can make your life miserable with passive agressive behavior. Tell her your problem and find the most amicable and practical way to part. Don't tell her she is a pig, tell her you have different ideas about housekeeping.

that is an extremely gentle difficulty whilst it comprises your maximum suitable chum. yet once you tell her which you do no longer assume issues to be completely appropriate yet to in user-friendly terms make some variety of attempt no rely how small... even merely putting the dishes interior the sink is a super initiate. have a take a seat together with her and consult together with her as a chum. if she takes offense to you asserting you do no longer care approximately her room yet something of the abode please positioned some variety of attempt into it... aka the dishes... then she's no longer somebody you desire to stay with. why jeopordize your place to stay and protection deposit together with her messiness?

Move out, or tell her she has to move out. You shouldn't put up with crappy living conditions.
