Ok, I've heard all the debate about what Marc Ecko is doing with the ball... what would you think of someone who spent 3/4 of a million dollars on a ball and put it in a box? or on their mantel? someone was going to spend an exorbitant amount of money on this ball and see little to no return on the investment... so what? its not your money. Mr Ecko is trying to make a statement, and in turn is allowing anyone who feels strongly enough to vote on it make a statement as well. thats all there is to it.
as a side note... im sure he's hoping "send it into space" doesnt win, because that will cost him a bundle

Ecko is a genius! All the publicity for his clothing line, appearing on TV shows, newspaper headlines, all over the internet, etc. Ecko got off cheap in terms of advertising costs.
As far a putting money to better use, when the hell has that loser Bonds EVER done that? He's the most self-centered egomaniac on the planet. He cares about no one else but HIMSELF. Let's see him put some of his millions to good use before knocking someone else for it.

For mear mortals like you and me yes it is a foolish act. But u have to under stand the context it is in. Ecko does not see 3/4 of a million $ like we see it. To him that's about half a days earnings before taxes. From the publicity alone he has made his money 10 folds. Now to get back to your answer, it would depend on how blunted i was. Now to be honest with you, i used to buy a lot of Ecko wear, after i found out about this act. I will not purchase nor will i allow my homies to buy any Ecko wear.

Do whatever makes you happy. I agree that the money could be better spent, but who cares. I could say that spending $4 for a cup of coffee could be put to better use. It is all relative to the person spending the money.

Nope. I guess it is easy to say this since most of us don't have that kind of money lying around. Then again, it is his money. Whatever he wants to do with it is his perrogative. Also more power to the guy who had it. I hope he has fun with the money he got for the ball and invest it and make more money.

True. That much money can solve many problems for many people in some other countries. Its a shame that we forget that there are others in need.
