Well I broke my neighbors sliding glass window. Its a regular sliding glass window about 4 feet by 8 feet. Wanted to know about how much it is going to cost to have someone come out and install new glass. Thanks

Calling it a 'regular sliding glass window' with the size mentioned, I'm inclined to think you might be talking about a sliding glass DOOR/ patio door. Most commonly used size of these is 6 feet wide, 3 feet per section, but can also be 4, 5, or 8 feet wide.

If it's a patio door like this, it's almost certainly a double-pane insulated glass panel, and it's going to be tempered glass. (shatters into little cubes when broken). This isn't one the local hardware store can handle, but there are a couple good routes:

Contact either a local patio door company or glass company that lists service for commercial windows/storefront. (That will mean they are equipped to do tempered glass, double-pane, and sizes larger than a basic window. If given the brand/model name off of the door, the patio door company can often show up to the home, glass pre-made, and install on the spot. Through the glass company you may have to transport the frame to them where they will install the glass, but then you're responsible for getting the newly glazed panel back home and in the frame.

Cost estimate? If the frame is undamaged and it's a double-pane tempered unit, you're probably looking at about $250-$300 replaced & installed.

You may have an alternative, too. Is this an amicable situation where you can talk with the neighbor about checking with their homeowners insurance for any suggested repair sources, possible discounts, or even if it makes any sense to claim, with you footing the deductible. If you have a homeowners policy, it will likely cover this, too.

Never hurts to ask around......like you have here-
Good luck-

actually it could be isulated or just 3/16 or 1/4 tempered. that may be a standard size. usually u can call in the daylight size (where u measure the glass u can see, they will know what to add in most cases) to most glass companies and get a quote locally. probably 180-350 price range depending on the glass. many companies give free estimates. it probably actually measures in glass 46 x 76.
good luck!
oh and u can find a residential glass company, thats what kind of job it is. and dont bother with model numbers, you usually wont get anywhere. the glass can be made by almost any distributor so all they need is a glass size.

Double strength glass will be about $100.00 add another $200.00 for labor and sending a truck to the site and you should be around $300.00.Shop around, most windshield repair companies will come out and do the job.

If replacing just one piece of insulated glass, would take about an hour of labor plus the cost of the glass. Should be around $200.00.

Talk to the local installers and get quotes. How the hell are we supposed to know what they'll charge?
