I mean its like watching someone jump off a cliff without a parachute...they just keep falling until they hit bottom. I'm not a Red Sox/Yankees fan or hater just asking a question. So no drama please.

For a Red Sox fan this season has turned from a euphorious roll into an X Files episode. Aliens have abducted the team and manager and replaced them with zombie clones. Terry Francona stated publicly that Eric Gagne is his 8th inning man because Okajima has a dead arm. Smoking man was standing right beside him at the press conference. Manny is "hurt". Papi can't hit clutch. Papelbon gave up a grand slam. Coco is hurt. Youk is hurt. This is more than bad luck. This is a conspiracy. Where are Sculley and Mulder when you need them?

I'm a Yankees fan, but I will try to answer this with no favoritism.

We, New York, have 3 games against the Blue Jays who always play hard... hell, they beat up Boston.

They, Boston, have 3 games against the Rays. While the Rays play tough, this is an excellent opportunity to end the streak of losses.

The other guys, Detroit, have 3 games against the Royals.

I'd say if anything, Detroit may pull a game or two closer to the Yanks, Boston will hold onto first and maybe win the division by 2 or 3 games, with us getting the Wild Card.

Which is fine by me, because then Boston has to play the Angels.

I hate the Yankees so it makes me sick to say it, but I'd put my money on a tenth division championship in a row and a big increase in obnoxiousness from the Yankees fans here. Streaks usually stop and start without warning, so anything is possible, but a rational observer has to go with the hot team. My specific prediction is that they will end the season with identical records, giving the Yankees the division on the first tiebreaker. I know that would require a big turnaround by one or both teams, but it would fit the history of the rivalry.
