What is with the Shift Rivalry?

I don't know how many kids are here now but to anyone who has a real job, does the 1st shift hate 3rd and 2nd? Do all shifts complain about the others endlessly, and whine about how much they're shift does compared to the others. I can't stand that! Is everyone trying to look better than the others on your shift? Every job i've ever had is like this.

I work in an aluminum extrusion factory and the rivalry is not only ridiculous but I think in our case it's counterproductive because there isn't the cooperation there should be.
