Most Hispanics are not OK with the Spanish Conquest. It represents slavery, forced conversion, death and destruction. Read an account of "La Malinche" the lover of Montezuma and how she betrayed him to the Spaniards. From then on traitors were called "Malinchistas". An especially prominent cross worn be Hispanics today is one without Christ on it, but rather, the cross bars are wrapped in chains. This represents the enslavement they experienced under the Spanish conquerors. Take a class on Latin American history and learn the truth. Or buy a book dealing with this topic. There is a favorite term "la Raza" which is used today as a representation of their identity as a people. It means the Race, or their racial identification with each other. It has become the rallying cry among protesters against the mistreatment of Hispanics.

most of the liberated tribes (or as you call them 'hispanics') were free from domination by the Incas. No longer were they subject to public sacrifice atop the Inca pyramids. The conversion to Christianity soon followed and they became 'civilized.' If it wasn't for their collaboration with Cortez, he cound'nt have captured Montezuma or conquered Tenochtitlan. As far as being 'okay' with Spanish conquest, i'd say they despised the conquerors due to their heavy handed administration....including that dealt by the missionaries.

What exactly do you expect us to do to change what happened? You have to go forward or else stay stuck in the past. My ancestors were Mayan Indians and Cherokee Indians. So we have choosen to move on to something better.
