Why is it acceptable for blacks to have their own groups distinguished by race. Example:NAACP, black miss america, black student groups, black frats, black causcus, etc...

I don't approve of groups like the Klan, but if a group of white people wanted to start a group and call it "White ______" surely they would be called racist.

And I've heard the answer, well white's have their own groups, but that is not accurate. Tell me of a group that labels itself as a white group. NAAWP? white miss america?

Perhaps a few decades ago there was a need for these groups. I understand that there was once a great racial divide in this country, but in my opinion the continuation of these black groups is only promoting further racial divide. Is that the goal of black leaders to continue racial divisions? Then why not rename their groups to something less exclusionary?

i don't view it as unfair, rather unfortunate. I don't want to have a white group. Why can't we just have groups and leave color and race out of it?

Years of oppression will do that to a people. It's like an overcompensation. It will all be fine in a few more years, I'm sure. Namaste.

Your contention is relevant, pertinent and some what timely as well. However, the ground conditions are not what they ought to be.There is a considerable amount of racism still prevailing though hidden( in the minds of people, both white and black), Such attitudes take much longer to change. For example,if an employer has two candidates for a job (a white and a black)and both being equal in all respects, who do you think has the better chance of getting the job?Non or both per se until the the racial identity of the employer comes on to play.Another and most important aspect is Politics. The black leaders have their relevance intact as long as the divide is alive or kept alive. Lastly, minorities or smaller groups who have suffered in the past shall continue to take advantage (after a time, undue) at the cost of others .All such social processes are well documented and go on to indicate that this phenomenon shall continue for some more time to come and any attempt to curtail would prove to be politically incorrect. For a minority ,the idea of a white beauty queen doesn't make sense as they they think anything which is not qualified (like a black) is automatically understood to be white (being a majority). These disparities shall continue till next or next to next generation of such minorities ,and till they are absorbed in to the main stream life of the society.Majority has to test their patience and pay for the doings of their ancestors.
Sorry to disappoint if it means that way.

I understand what you are saying, and I don't think there's a clear cut answer. I suspect it is "acceptable" because most white people can find all the resources and clubs they desire to fulfill their wants and needs. I only hope these "white" clubs are encouring the blacks to join as well. And, yes, there are some black leaders to prefer to continue racial divisions. It helps keep blacks loyal to blacks, and that's a political action that we cannot control. I think it would be just perfect if we judged people on being people, not color or religion.

*sigh*

First of all, NAACP is not just to benefit blacks. It's to benefit anyone who may be oppressed because of the color of their skin. It is used as an informational tool when "white america" pushes issues to the side that don't concern them.

I don't understand why Black Miss America pageants would bother you. Tell me, when has there ever been an equal number of EACH race in the Miss America pageant? NEVA!!!

Whether you want to admit it or not, racism still exists. People just aren't so blunt about it anymore. They make comments when they are behind closed doors. They deny people from ethnic groups entry into schools and jobs, but give bogus reasons.

I don't see why the "Majority" has so many complaints.
For so many years, if you weren't white, you didn't stand a chance at winning anything or being accepted into anything. Who are you to put a time limit on services that make us feel good about ourselves if it's not hurting or hindering you?

It seems to me that nothing's changed. Gotta have some kind of control.

My Opinion

Interesting point. Good, well thought out question.

Listen white men have suppressed and oppressed minorities for thousands of years, you wanna take away their orginizations in place to never let that happen again?

If you are white and want an all white group...start one...who cares... if you don't promote hate, no one will hate you.

As far as (some) black people trying to keep the racial lines drawn tight, I'd say sure, there have been some really bad things done to them in the past and they're under no obligation to forget these past mis-deeds nor should they.

Nor should we.

because of the fact some each physique is in such emotional soreness and immature, that they might desire to launch their anger someplace. And the place greater advantageous to do it, then while no person is attentive to for specific who you're. Passive people who're indignant are the main threatening, because of the fact below the rude comments is a few thing they easily experience...anger, harm, unhappiness, rage, humiliation, and so on. in case you look lower back over the previous few years, the internet has allowed human beings to correspond devoid of theory of who's at the two end at situations. before this media mess, human beings might might desire to respond to to somebody, and in case you made a rude fact, basically your gang pals might chuckle; others might ignore approximately you or pick different acquaintances. Now, something is going. YouTube is a sturdy occasion. There are some terrible issues on there, yet additionally some sturdy issues. So, we would desire to post with the rude comments, delete, delete, delete, and document if we are able to; then it particularly is as much as the gods of the our on-line international to choose those persons boost up. regrettably, some do no longer. And worse, in the event that they might harm others, they might p.c.. up a gun and not a working laptop or workstation keyboard and get even. it particularly is why we would desire to in no way enable them to take over the our on-line international by utilising answering lower back. merely delete, my chum. And pray that all of us learn how to tolerate others, in spite of if we disagree with their techniques or thoughts; communique is great, notwithstanding it takes 2 smart human beings, no longer one being rude and attacking somebody else. that's no longer communique, it particularly is a monologue.

Interesting point, it is always something I have thought about. But let's not just mention the Black Groups. What about the Latino groups? What about the Asian groups? And all the other groups? It is not just blacks and whites who do this. I'm not racist and I am not trying to sound racist, I am just saying that you didn't mention all the groups.

A lot of black Americans think that White society is racist against them, so they think they need their own interest groups to support their rights. Most minorities think that they can have their own groups set up for their benefit, & they don't think there's anything wrong with it because of the way that their ancestors were treated.

The answer to your question is already given through the statement itself. NAACP, or any African American groups were not just created because they wanted to create it. In the beginning it was the whites who forced it. The NAACP was created to fight against segregation not to create it. Also history made a mark in lives of African Americans to see that many look at them racists, so they formed brotherhoods like any other race would do at a time of hardship.

It is to continue the racial divide. If they do away with all those everyone would learn that they are all on an even playing surface. Then one race can't blame another. Peace
