Yes. We beat the top of the NFC (while making stupid mistakes) and were able to score twice, while again making stupid mistakes, against a very tough patriot defense.
Opponent QB rating (avg) (last year)
1. Baltimore - 63.4
2. New England - 66.1
3. Chicago - 66.5
Rivers against CHI/NE, 73.3/74.2 --got great, but above average (and that's a Chi WITH Harris and Brown, and NE with Thomas). Norv must test the water with his play calling, and unfortunately had to do so against the top 2 defenses in the league (Baltimore hasn't shown they can fully handle without A. Thomas IMO --see CIN v. BAL game).

Honestly, it pretty tough to judge them after only two games, both of which were against top teams, the BEST of NFC and the best team in the league right now, in fact, I don't think ANYONE can beat New England right now.
We will have to wait and see what happens this week against the Pack, I expect that the Charger offense will finally get it together this weekend, Tomlinson looked human against the Bears and Patriots and his O-Line just were not getting it done. You have to keep in mind that Tomilinson has only played in two games, he sat out the whole preseason which looks like a mistake now.
San Diego still belongs in the top five.........
As for teams putting eight in the box, they have been doing that against Tomlinson for a long time, last season when everyone in the staduim knew he was getting the ball, he still could not be stopped by most defenses.
The Chargers have multiple weakness' and the Patriots knew how to exploit all of them, they were ready for the Chargers, they had the game plan and it worked.
The Chargers should look to pick up a big play receiver and a defensive back that can cover a fast outside receiver.
Phillip Rivers looked horrible against the Pats, but I wouldn't give up on him just yet.
Here's a question for you, how unstopable with this team be if they had Champ Bailey, Randy Moss and Ray Lewis added to the current lineup?

Chargers are over-rated! Rivers has Gates to throw to and that's it. As long as the Chargers continue to show that they have no other weapons besides Gates and Tomlinson opposing defenses will continue to put 8 or 9 in the box taking Tomlinson away. I don't care if they are playing against the worst defense in the league, Tomlinson will continue to be ineffective with 8 and 9 in the box I don't care how good he is. To finally answer your question, my answer is NO!

Yes...Still top 5...Really, top 3...Pats, Colts, Chargers...The Patriots just got the players in the offseason specifically because of the Colts and Chargers last year...We're stacked...and we like it...

They will go 10-6 or 11-5 which probably makes them 6th best.

I don't think so, I originally thought it would take Norv at least a year to destroy all that talent. Looks like I was wrong. He's doing it a lot faster than I thought.
