Ahaha... bring the TV! You may think it's a joke, but tv withdrawl is real and it's happening to my suitemates. They complain about missing MTV a lot. I brought my tv with me, and I find it really helps me unwind at the end of the day. Of course, I wouldn't advise you to watch it during all hours of the day, but it's a nice piece of home to bring with you.

My answer would be, bring it. A majority of my friends go to college or university, and their safe haven, sanity is in form of the Internet, TV, and mobiles.
You can't study all the time, after awhile it will make you stressed, have anxiety problems and suffocated.
You need something where you can always have an escape route to, even if it's just for an hour.
You may have friends already at college, but seeing them everyday will put strain on that friendship as well, and if you don't have friends, technology and such is great in forgetting that. :)
Best of luck.
*If you do bring one, do safety procedures so it does not get stolen, same goes with any other valuables*

don't bring it. I thought that I would have major issues if I didn't have a tv. I ended up sharing a room and my roommate brought the tv, but I actually didn't feel like watching it very much. She moved out at the beginning of winter quarter, taking her tv with her..while I had the fridge. I basically got my tv fix by going online and watching the shows I really liked. Otherwise I'd go watch with a friend.
In the end, I found tv to be more of a social thing, but at the end of spring quarter, I couldn't take it and would watch tv I found online to no end.

Most college dorms should have cable in them, so I would suggest bringing a TV. You can't always be studying. TV will give you a chance to get a nice little break from studying or doing work. If you said your TV is always on in your house, I'd say that you should bring one, especially if you have some shows that you like to watch.

I was addicted to television until I moved into a house and we didn't have an antenna, satellite or anything. It drove me crazy for about two weeks, but I noticed that after a while, without the interference that a tv offers that i got lots more stuff done around the house.

Your college does not enable cable? That sucks. napping in and staring at television till 3 PM is a severe component to the collegiate experience. i might actually deliver it, yet maximum dorm rooms are relatively small and 40 two'' may be slightly vast.

A better question would be, "Do I have any self-discipline?" Having a TV on weekends to catch the latest game, watch the latest show, catch up on news is a great way to relax on your downtime but if you have a problem with self-control, it could get in the way of class work. This is particularly true during your first year because there are a number of distractions that could put you off course.

People saying you have too much work in college to do anything...totally a lie. Yes! Bring a TV! If you never had cable at home...get ready to have too many channels because most college offer free cable TV.
Call you roommates/learn who they are and email them though. It sucks to have 3 TV's!

Leave it. It will disturb your studies and there are HEAPS of other things you can do at college. Also, most colleges have TV rooms. But if you're an introvert and like to hang all by your lonesome in your room, then take it with you.

Bring it. I never watch TV, but it's nice to have the option.
Talk to your roommate first, though. There's no sense in having two.
