Sweet cordials are great for the holidays. Crème de menthe, Amaretto Disaronno, Grand Marnier, Crème de cacao, to name a few. Go for small amounts of many kinds so you can have a variety. Also, small amounts prevent "power drinkers" from over-indulging and ruining your holiday. Served straight or used to make wonderful cocktails...these are fun things for Christmas. If you are looking for more of a punchbowl drink; hot buttered rum, eggnog or a fruit punch seasoned with a little vodka are good. Of course, if you live in Texas, throw a couple of decorations on the cactus and grab your bottle of tequilla. Happy holidays y'all!

I hear Sambuca is a fine desert Liquor which can be served after dinner, with the pies and such. Watch out though, that stuff will glue the glass to the table if a drink ring is allowed to dry... I've broken glasses.

You know wine is always nice for Christmas dinner. And some like Brandy or Rum in their Eggnog. Brandy is better than the Rum in my humble opinion.

Things like Champain or Tequila are just not very popular for Christmas. At least not traditional.

Egg nog, mulled wine, or my favorite, hot buttered rum.

Frangelico is a lovely liquor to have around, to add to the coffee after dinner. Or amaretto. Cocoa with peppermint schnapps is also a favorite.

You don't have to have any liquor for Christmas. If you want some, get whatever YOU like.

Here's what I buy....

***Crème de menthe: for minty cocoa. (for kids just pop in a candy cane to make it minty).
***Crème de cacoa: because it's chocolatey and yummy
***Rum: for the eggnog
***Brandy: For the eggnog and to serve with brandy snaps.
***Baileys: To mix into cocoa.
***Advocaat: To make snowball cocktails (mix with lemonade and a dash of lime cordial, it goes frothy and lovely!)

And I know it's not a liquor but I always buy champagne. This year i'm buying pink champagne.

Happy holidays!

Try Dominican Rum from Brugal. It's not too strong and I think it goes pretty good with eggnog--if you like eggnog, that is.
