I've actually been in that situation. I took the child to customer service, and asked if they could find her parent. So, they made an announcement over the PA system. I did my good deed.

I ALWAYS ask a lone child where his/her parent is. Then I have them show me. I have seen the predators scouting the kids in stores. It's amazing how brazen they are.
If a man finds a child alone and is uncomfortable about approaching the child because of being perceived as a predator, don't just walk away. Find a nearby woman, preferably one with children and ask her to approach the child.

I would try to keep my eye on her while trying to get an employee. If that did not work, I would take her to Customer Service. I would never just leave her.

This happened to me last week. I saw a little boy who looked pretty scared sitting alone on an end cap at Wal-mart and I asked him if he was lost but he didn't answer me.We were in the pharmacy area so I had my husband keep an eye on him while I told someone who worked in the pharmacy about the little boy. They found the little boy's parents.

I'd look around to see if her parents were nearby. If not, I'd ask her if she was lost, and if she said yes I'd go tell an employee. I wouldn't take her anywhere, because the last thing I'd want is for her to turn up missing and I was the last poor sap ever seen with her on the security cameras in Walmart!!! SCREW THAT!!

I'd try to help her find her mom in the imediate area, meaning in the next aisle or so,but not all over the store - if she's nowhere to be found then on to the cust serv desk immediately
