I have a Liz Claiborne comforter, it's white and 100% cotton with 100% polyester filling. I'm at college, and my mom sent me back with some pasta and meatballs with sauce in a little container. When I came back from home last night, I was rushing to get to the library and apparently left the tupperware container on my bed (forgot to put it in the fridge), and somehow some of the sauce leaked out and stained my comforter.

What are the best ways to clean up this mess???

Thanks in advance!

Turn the clock back and don't eat in bed, put the Tupperware in the fridge and reset the clock.

I use this method for removing stains from my carpets and all other materials. So far it has successfully removed dog feces and urine, and just about an hour agoI removed a huge spaghetti sauce stain from the living room carpet (long story) but kinda funny that you are asking.
I cup white vinegar (it has to be white) 3 cups distilled water. Mix it in a clean spray bottle. Sprinkle a healthy dose of baking soda all over the stain. Soak the baking soda with the spray mixture, you will see the foaming from the reaction of the baking soda and vinegar. Let it rest a bit then with a toothbrush or sponge use circular motions and wipe it down. It has really worked miracles for me. I used to love Resolve but this works even better.

Get a couple of bottles of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide (not the higher hair bleach type). Should cost you about a dollar a bottle. Pour the peroxide in a spray bottle. Using a shop vac or spot carpet cleaner. Spray the stained area, wait until it stops foaming vacuum it. Repeat until stain is gone then wash the comforter.

Only way I know that actually works. When it works you can brag about it to your Mom.

Try a product called DiDi Seven... This stuff gets out almost anything!!! Just Google this and check out their web site. You can buy it at Walmart, Home Depot and online. Great stuff!

If its all white then I would imagine you could bleach it in a wash cycle. If it can't be bleached, then take it to dry cleaners. A dry cleaners may even just spot clean it and charge less. I learned early on in college, dark colours are your friend.
