I do not see any pros. I do see major dysfunction in a school system that would even consider it.

I definitely think there is no pro in guns in the classroom!!! I also think that parents should be more responsible for their children's actions!!! There is no more discipline in the schools or at home. How are children suppose to learn respect, if they don't even respect their parents? There is a difference in discipline and abuse, and people are way too eager to yell abuse!!!! How about the teacher that is afraid for his or her own life or well-being? Especially when you have a student that knows there is nothing they can do to them. They even have to be careful when they try to restrain them from one an other.(they might hurt them in doing so) No, I don't think guns should be allowed in schools, but I can see where teachers are ready to resort to that. The schools should be cleaned up and get the kids out that don't want to learn!!!! Let the children that go to learn, learn in peace!!! Have you noticed how young and hateful and mean some of these children are? When a preteen can kill and rape, I can see where the fear comes from!!!
People need to remember that life is not fair, and you get out of it what you put into it. There are consequences for everything, even children's actions.

I think in order for a teacher to be effective, they should have at least one arm. Preferrably two, but I guess you can still write on the chalkboard and take attendance if you only have one arm. It would be hard to pass out papers, but you could always have another student help you. Or get a teacher's aide. Anyways, I think it would be tough for a teacher to not have any arms. They would be hypocrites if they ask their students to raise their hand to answer a question. So yes, teachers should be armed - at least one.
Oh, and Mr. Wess LB - go back and read the Constitution of the United States. Pretty sad for such an idiot to be a former teacher. So much for that generation, huh...moron.

If the teachers were properly trained, it could be a good idea. It would certainly cut down on school massacres. Not that there are very many of these. But you notice that they don't happen in high-crime schools, because the perp can't guarantee that no student is carrying heat illegally.
Do you really think it's likely that a teacher with proper firearms training would shoot the gun inappropriately?
Of course, a tazer might do the trick. The kind of tazer you shoot, not the kind used at UF.

No pros? You have to be kidding! Go back and read the accounts of the Virginia Tech shootings. Do they mention a teacher who was a holocaust survivor who blocked the entry to his classroom and paid for it with his life. What if he had a concealed carry permit and the university did not have a rule against carrying on campus. He and his students might still be alive.
If everything you know about guns and self defense is what you read in the media or watch on TV or movies, you know NOTHING about armed self defense. Look in your Yellow Pages and find a local gun shop. Go there and talk to the people who sell guns about personal self defense. Ask them if they were a teacher would they carry a weapon in school if it were legal.
While you are there, sign up for a gun safety class, go to a range and learn to shoot safely.
I am a retired teacher and a legally armed citizen. Carrying a gun is an awesome responsibility. I take it very seriously. I refuse to be a victim. It is my responsibility to defend my life, the lives of my family and my property. It is not the government's responsibility.

Pro: Every school teacher in Israel is armed. There have been no school shootings in that nation.
Con: A lot of teachers seem to be wanting to have sex with under-age children. Given that sort of stunted maturation, they do not possess the needed mental temperment to carry a weapon.

They are citizens like everyone else and have a Constitutional right to carry a weapon for self defense. Generally teachers are upstanding citizens and follow the law so I don't see any cons at all.

I don't see any benefits. Only problems can come of that. What would society have come to if teachers became armed. Essentially it is saying that it's ok to shoot kids in class. It's crazy. Schools should be gun free zones!
