As with anything you can make the best of it or the worst. When you are in basic sometimes it feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. When you finally make it through you will brag about it the rest of your life. It is quite an accomplishment. Don't spend all your money going to the service clubs, save it for a home when you get out. If you want something to do then get a hobby and there should be a club of others that enjoy the same thing. Pray like your life depended on it because it will. The reason Basic is hard is because they want to weed the ones who could not stand the stress out. They will toughen you up and either make ya or break ya. God bless you and guide you young man. Take care and make good choices because the choices you make will not only affect you but every generation after you. I did it but it was 40 years ago and even though I only signed for one tour I am on a VA pension. They take care of their own. When you look at the US pin on your uniform remember that it not only means the United States, it means us. It can be the most interesting and fun time of your life. Mmm

Good luck. It's not a bad life. And according to something I read somewhere, they're paying extra for people to stay in the US and serve here...

But he's a nurse, so I dunno if he'll get that.

Good luck, my friend!
