No. It is not ethical. Animals should have the same right as people to live healthy, happy lives and not be made into breeders for greedy people who don't care for them properly.

You can profit from anything related to pets?? Sign me up! Everything I have tends to cost more money than I ever get back, lol. My horse alone costs me 5,000 a year....so I have had her 8 yrs....and can sell her for over 40k? I don't think so.

I honestly do not think you can make a large profit from animals....maybe rabbits or small rodents due to their high reproductive factor, but that is about it.

I supposed those people with the labrapoodles, shitzpits or whatever they are called can make a lot of money, but that is due to people's stupidity, not the act of breeding the animals themselves.

I agree that it is difficult to profit from breeding or selling animals. I worked at an animal hospital for years. Some of the breeders were clean, good ppl, but you should have seen the conditions some of these ppl kept themselves and their pets in.

Seriously...no carpet, only concrete in their houses. Fleas everywhere. Dogs crated all day long and bred to exhaustion. The dogs soiled their cages and were so used to it, it took FOREVER to house train them. So sad.

Well, for a start, perhaps a profit taking breeder can answer your answer better than me.

But, most breeder (I own hamsters previously and breed them) that I knew either barely substain the break even or profit from breeding pets unless they are breeding good pedigree of dogs/cats/horse etc (I seldom profit- I want my babies to be raise in a good enviroment).

It will take expert eyes to see a good pedigree in aminals and the cost put in breeding them isn't cheap either.

If you ask me, it is ethical if the breeder managed to breed good qualities pets in good enviroment.

Your question is a broad spectrum one that would take forever to answer. Before many of these so-called pets that we have today became pets, they were animals that were and still are used for FOOD to this day. But as many people only think that food comes from the grocery stores, they have no clue that someone (farmers) out there is raising these animals for our consumption. And yes, although they are raised for food, many people classify them as their pets. These animals are with them day and night for their entire life serving our needs as consumers.
Just an example of where food products come from (not produced at the stores).
Milk comes from the cows, pork comes from the pigs, beef comes from cows, eggs from the chickens, chicken we eat is raised for our consumption, ( not from KFC or Churchs).
As we do not eat our horses and our dogs and cats.......other countries do and they are criticised for it because we do not agree with it. We only consider them as "pets". They are food for others. Just as other countries do not eat their cows, as they are sacred, but we in turn eat ours.
So when you say "PETS" in todays society, you are actually referring to animals who have been brought into the household that has no business being a part of the family and should remain as the sole purpose they were meant for. And if you can't think of all the pets I am referring to......look on Petfinders.com, or maybe ask your Grandparent. That would be a great source.
As I said this is a question that has a neverending answer because of the different views of people of different generations. So making profits off of animals.........right or wrong! Everyone has their own opinion.

Nope. Money should be lost through animal breeding. On rare occasions, animal breeders may break even. If a profit is being made through animal breeding, the breeder is either cutting corners in animal care, overcharging those who purchase them, or both.

i hate it! animals are living things and should be treated with respect, not used for profit! thats why people need to get there pets fixed and laws need to be put into place to stop these sick people.

I think it's fine, as long as you don't make them a sex machiene... Don't force them just when ever they have babies.... I mean for god sake, they kill their young if their sick, im sure selling one wouldn't effect them that much.
