Like someone else mentioned, he did it on purpose. The guy has a history of creating disturbances for the purpose of inciting police to arrest and tase him. On the way out, and later in the police car, he was laughing and joking about the whole situation. He got just the right response (and subsequent outrage at the cops) that he wanted.
NOT that it's okay to tase someone for asking a stupid question, but c'mon! Don't resist police. That's not hard to remember!

Absolutely. I got pulled over by the cops one time and they found my taser under the passenger seat.. I told them I only use it on myself when I start to ask stupid questions. They were going to arrest me for having it, but as they questioned me, and I started to question them back, they realised that I really am a jackass and that I should be tasering myself. So, they released me and the taser. I still use it on myself to this day.

No and what happened was despickable and it was on the news everywhere. And it was so stupid the way they treated him. And unnecessary. They should be treated the same way and maybe they would learn a lesson. But that is doubtful. So often the so called police and officals get away with this and they should be repromanded. By the authorities. If possible.

I'm going through the final classes for my Administration of Justice degree. A big part of the classes is Ethics. That was an ethics issue if Ive ever seen one. They put these perspective employees through psychological testing, lie detectors and background checks and still can't find people with ethics in order to conduct civil behavior with the public. I just don't understand it. In fact I was so horrified at the misconduct going on in law enforcement that I put my degree on the back-burner for four years. I finally just decided to finish this year because I figured it has no I'mpact if im not in the force myself. Yeah, its pretty bad what goes on in law enforcement.

NO! A taser will lose power, I say go with a good old fashioned wooden bat. That is the best way to deal with time wasters and dumb *sses who ask ?s that make us say 'how stupid, where is my bat'

Of course not, but then again they will say we are all jumpy from 9/11 still. How long will the government continue this kind of conduct? The answer is up to us. We have a voice and a choice, we all need to learn how to use it again.

I think they should be 'tasered' for asking a question that they can look up themselves on someplace like GOOGLE.COM, or if it's a HOMEWORK question (e.g. how many people live in Ellendale, Delaware (there really is a place...been there a lot, ha ha).

no cause he was just asking a stupid question, if someone ask a stupid question laugh at them like most people do not taser the guy.
why didn't they just cuff him and put him away.
that is just plain cruel and another example of police brutality.
