In a marriage and family life - what's the difference between obligation and responsibility?

Is your spouse and kids an "obligation" or your responsibility? How do you think your spouse and kids would feel if you treat them as 'obligations'?

Really there both flawed terms, what it needs to be defined as is PURPOSE, not some obligaion you can slack on, and not a responsiblity you can neglect, but YOUR PURPOSE in life, anything short of that is just selfish. But thats my opionin might be why I don't have kids yet I'm not going to boil my relationship down to a social requirment, love runs deeper then that, thats my kiddos and my wife, no word describes how important they are, nor what I'm willing to do for them, that goes into territories words CAN'T define.
