I am not a man basher, I think men are great, but it's just overwhelming, so many women are being abused and manipulated and controlled by their spouses and boyfriends. I am no exception. Why are so many men like this?

Because you allow them to be. Since I was in high school I used to be so baffled with the fact that women in general like bad boys, abusers, disrespectful men, manipulative guys, controlling freaks. It used to really bother me, because I always thought; how come when a guy is respectful, nice, decent, courteous, gentle, kind, caring and loving. Women think he is a nerd. But you don't have to take it from them. Leave them, report them to the police if they are abusive. Don't allow your boyfriends to be disrespectful. Put them on their place. You girls are better off without them. Men who don't respect and put women down are insects. Make a promise to yourself that he is never going to humiliate or abuse you in any way again. You don't have to live like that. There are plenty of good guys out there that would love and care for you as you deserve.

just my opinion (been there - no pic-nic)
the men that treat a woman without respect and and abuse them have very little self-respect : they are unsure of themselves,
they think that by mistreating a woman, it either makes them feel more 'mature' or better about themselves.

another thought : one reason for this type of behavior can be traced back to the way they were brought up. It is known that many times an abuser comes from an abusive family

anyway you look at it, it is simply NOT acceptable -whether it is verbal or physical

Interesting, provide your data please. Or is that your opinion that your passing off as fact?

I'm my extensive experience, and that of the vast majority of men AND women. Women are the masters at manipulation and emotional abuse. Hands down. I'm not a woman basher either.

Part of this manipulation is crying wolf, and accusing others of the very thing you're guilty of.

Yeah, you are a man-basher. You ever heard of nagging? It is the same thing really. It's about people not respecting their mates, so they take out their discontent and resentment on them ... kind of like you are doing on the male gender.

Guys in general are fixers an controllers. They feel like if they control the situation, then it will all be ok.
If you are being controlled, get help. I was in a controlling relationship for 17 years and it is wonderful to have my freedom again.
We are people with brains, able to make decisions, and to have friends without cheating on them.
I recommend counseling and if he won't go then you should!
Don't live like that.

It is sad that there are people that are so insecure with themselves that they resort to these behaviors. Some women are that way as well. My sisters seem to find guys like that.

Most men are not emotionally abusive.

There are just a lot of women who bought into the tall tales of feminism and don't know their place in a relationship and in a home.

God created Man and Woman for the Man to be head of the household.

The fact is, that their fathers abandoned them, and they repeat the pattern. All we can do to change this, is wait for Jesus to come.
