I've heard three meanings on the radio.
One: A girl you have a fling with
Two: A girl you respect like a sister or are friends with
Three: A girl that you are really attracted to like really hot.

All of you anti-slang jerk-offs need to understand that the English language has been evolving for centuries. The English we speak now is not the same English as ,say, the Engish that Shakespeare used over 500 years ago. Slang terms have a story ie history to them that is more valuable then you care to realize. With that said, shorty means girlfriend or someone you consider to be beautiful.

Some guys use it when talking to a girl, some use it when they think a girl is hot, sexy, attractive, or somebody they really like and is trying to get with. I personally hate it a when a guy refer to me as "shawty" or "shorty".

i dont know, but its really annoying, all this annoying people going around saying that ridiculous word, shorty.. shawty is also a nickname.. shawty is cool, shorty sucks, as does kanye the chipmunk.....he only beat 50 cent in sales, cause of all the racket his making, with his lunatic rantin, else 50 would of beat him easily... kanye is a pasing star, soon no one will care about him, hes goes berserk at the drop of a hat.,, people should boycott his stupid rantings, he is the only one with no class to admit he didnt win, cause he wasnt to good, hes so stupid he cant see that he really sucks
