not too scary but nothing that just really stupid either??

Best horror film ever in my book[ and I have watched a ton] would be Saw ! It was well thought out and not your typical horror flick!

I loved High Tension. Also there's the classic, The Shining.

I enjoy the 1970's and 80's horor films.
You can find some really good ones such as,
"The Manitou", "MadMan", "One Dark Night", and "My Bloody Valentine".
