me. I called the police, they arrived, and he claimed SELF DEFENSE. He didn't have a single mark on him. Me two black eyes, broken nose, cracked ribs (2), and bruises galore. What a screwed up state I live in.

I do not know what you want to know. Advice? Well if you are serious and do not want it to happen again then go down to the police station, talk to someone in charge, tell them what happened, file a report and press charges. Stick to it though. If they will not let you, move out get a restraining order and stay away from him. If you want to work it out then I would say that counseling for him, you too if needed. Just remember that without help, it will not stop.
So either get out and stay away, or get him to see someone.

the right guy to start with to stop being abussed is you. Did you get the police officer names and reports? You can report those police officer to the authority and they would face it even if he claimed to be a self defence, they were not to be the judges other other that issue a citation or arrest him and face each other in court. You can stop this abusive relationship. However if you love him and think that things would work out, its up to you but as you have stated here, you will be hurt some more and take action now to stop this behavior. Complain to your local senate office and to your local district attorney who would help you in your legal problem as to why they police officer acted like judges instead of carrying out law and order as the are required to do.

What they didn't take him to jail? where you live? Arabia or something? look honey maybe the problem is that you call the police one too many times, they consider this domestic violence in some states and depends on the officer and sadly their believes on the matter, they plain get tired of dealing with things like this, you have to leave him, you have to leave understand? go to a shelter run away disappear, no one is making you live with that man, so if you don't stand up for your self the law is not going to keep going to your house for nothing press charges at the police station show them your bruises, go to them not them coming to you.. understand? and please honey LEAVE THE BASTARD! he is going to kill you say it to your self if I don't leave HE IS GOING TO KILL ME.. and run. Go to a battered woman's shelter and get some counseling. Don't tell him where you are either. Don't go back to him until he has completed anger management classes and you have been to counseling. Men who abuse women can end up killing them. Get help now.
I had two friends, he broke her nose and ribs and blacked eyes over a period of time. He ended up shooting her in the face with a 357 magnum and then he killed himself, their kids grew up with out them and I will never see my friends again it has been 30 years that they have missed, because of him.

they should have taken him to jail no questions. u will need to get a restraining order, than file for divorce, no one deserves this, and the longer u stay the more he is going to take all that is wrong in his life out on u. his actions show u exactly who he is, once the beatings begin they will continue.

Divorce, 100 yard restraining order, alimony, buy a gun/taser/mace or take extreme self defense courses (probably avoid cutting off his $*#(@) not quite in that order.
