I'm purchasing a Notebook so I can actually be around the family while I play games, rather than a hermit in my room. However, I want the best gaming laptop I can afford, and I'm not a fan of Intel, so I'm going with AMD.

Now, AMD has released Turion. I don't know anything about it other than it saves battery life, but does that mean it's not as powerful as Athlon?

Please help, I'm a heavy gamer trying to build a laptop from HP, and I don't know if I should choose Turion or Athlon for my processor.

Keep in mind I'll be gaming the entire time.

Thanks!

Generally speaking, the Turions are laptop processors and Athlons are desktops. They have released a few Athlon's for notebooks, but they are really just Turions that have been rebadged. The easiest way to compare is to use the numbers in the name, for example TL-60 or TK-55, etc. The higher the number, the faster the performance, no matter which name it uses.

Turino are a mobile processor, so they are not as powerful as athlon. I do like AMD, but they need to get their act together. Intel's Core2Dous just blow them away. they use less power, perform better, and cost less!!!! that would be what i'd look for in a gaming laptop. along with at leat 2 GB RAM, and DEDICATED graphics. Alienware actually has an SLi Laptop. dno;t remember the specs, but still impressive, except for the battery life which i can only imagine was about 20 minutes.
