eBay has become a way for some people to take advantage of people's inexperience, both in handling money and buying stuff without really knowing what kind of price should apply to the item. In addition, those buyers who "gotta have it now" will typically be paying more than they should for the item. "Buy it Now"'s are mostly overpriced. Simply put, in my mind, greed has enveloped eBay.

The other problem now is shipping and handling, which is partially understandable by the increased price of gas, but some dudes get a lot of cash for handling/shipping the simplest and lightest of items.

Buyer beware. Happens to most all retail outlets.

Think its been a buyers market on eBay,of late, mainly due to weak dollar and Yanks not buying that much..eBay could over charge you for their percentage for selling something apart from that they are only middlemen if you like ..An auction is open to all kinds of fluctuations down to last minute..You can put your auto bidder on at your max price,so you have as good a chance as anyone of getting item..What exact rip off you talking about?Shipping postage is not eBays fault..

It depends from which angle you are looking from - buying or selling or both. I have both sold and bought on ebay and the fees that they charge now for selling are astronomical. As to buying I am finding more and more the things I buy are not as described and I am wasting money. Try complaining to ebay and paypal and you get nowhere - customer care just doesn't exist.

you need to learn how to buy, a lot of seller are bussiness but there are also individual people you just need to be patient and wait for the right person remember there is a lot of people loking for the same things and try to bid at the end of the auction that way you may buy the item cheaper

I agree. It used to be an auction but now its just a market place with too many sellers and they make their profit by charging too much for postage.

Does anyone know a good alternative??

Rip off! Especially when it comes to shipping. I know a dvd doesn't cost $15.00 to ship.
