They're going to get hammered in 2008. They've married themselves and their future to a war that a majority of Americans want out of. When it's all said and done, this could be the stupidest political blunder in American history.

There's ALWAYS hope, I believe in that.

Still, the neo-cons have done a great job of suicide-bombing their hopes for 2008, and the only thing that's going to rise from the ashes of Bush is memories of an embarrassing eight years for the US.

Dummyrat - again you have chosen to post this 11% figure without a source. Since you are not prepared to let us know where it comes from it is safest to assume you made it up.
The real figures of course do show a low approval for congress in general, a low approval for Dems in congress, a lower approval for Republicans in congress, satisfaction with the direction Dems are taking congress and an overwhelming preference for a Dem congress and president after 2008.
Republicans refused to accept that 6 years of abject failure would be punished by the American people in 2006. The result was a substantial pants kicking. The determination of the right to not learn anything from it, but instead smugly misrepresent poll findings in the way you do just means 2008 is guaranteed to be even more of a hiding.

I can't believe people are sticking their head in the sand about the coming recession! Incredible. Get rid of your dollars while you can because they are going to be worth less than half their value now.
There will be no phoenix rising from the ashes, Americans are going to screwed, hammered then bull-dozed and it's going to hurt like hell.

Neocons brainwashed most of republican electorate into believing that invading and occupying foreign countries is somehow patriotic and protects American freedom from the 'freedom haters'. It will probably take some time before the drastic consequences of the neocon ideology become evident to them and the Republican party returns to its conservative values.

Given that the Dem Congress has an 11% approval rating (Bush's is 29%) I don't think they have much to worry about.

Basically yes to the GOP being screwed - but I hope there won't be a recession.

Chi, I've heard recession chicken little screams since the first Bush tax cut. Hasn't happened yet, but if things stick to the normal business pattern, we'll have a recession in 2010. Like the one we had in 1980, then in 1990, and the one in 2000.

Now is not the time for a Democrat in the Oval Office. The world couldn't handle pacifism right now.
