There are 2 policies you can follow:

1. The first is to send more troops, destroy all the Mosques, outlaw Islam, all your opponents will come at you and US can anniliate them.

2. Get out of there now if you are not going to do #1.

There is no middle of the road.

The U.S. has no intention of 'winning' in Iraq. It's goal is simple: occupy Iraq until we've sucked every drop of OIL from its sands. That's why we're building the largest U.S. embassy in the world on a 104-acre site in downtown Baghdad overlooking the 'new' puppet Iraqi government installed by the Bush administration.
That's why Halliburton is building fourteen (yes - 14!) new permanent U.S. military bases in Iraq.
That's why the number-one non-military 'benchmark' that Bush is pushing for provides for Iraq to surrender two-thirds of its oil fields to private foreign 'big oil' corporations. **

From Day One, this 'war' was all about OIL and WAR PROFITEERING. Nothing else. Anyone who believes we're trying to bring democracy to Iraq is naive. Anyone who assumes we're defending our borders from some 'terrorists' in an unknown 'evil empire' is gullible. Anyone who thinks this 'war' will bring peace to the Middle East is uninformed.
We will not 'get out' of Iraq for decades - perhaps generations. We the all-mighty Americans have decided that occupying this sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the U.S.A. is in our 'national interests'. -RKO- 09/19/07

#1 is only an option if you are having total war against the iraqi people. and what would be the justification for that? What did they do to us? for that matter what did the iraqi government do to us?

and no. 1 would probably cause a second crusade... trillions of dollars, 100,000 of deaths... as you said, it would basically involve the entire middle east...

and I don't think anyone wants to do that
