there are three options:
1.you can update your 360 through xbox LIVE.
2.you can burn the settings to a BLANK(It has to be blank or else your 360 won't read it) CD or DVD.
3.you order a disc to be sent to you by mail from xbox.com
(i do not recommend this because you have to pay for the delivery)
I recommend burning the settings to a CD because it's free as long as you can burn CDs and you have a blank CD.
It's legal because it is xbox.com

I don't think you can, but all the good original xbox games are playable on the 360

You won't have much luck downloading of of websites.
You'll have to use a IRC or FTP program.

there's a tutorial for downloading off of mIRC. It's pretty good I get all my emu's and such from there
