Its never a choice. U cant just decide to be gay today and be staright tomorrow. Being gay is something that happened in ur childhood and there isnt much u can do about it except accept urself. Thats what u should tell ur brother.

P.S Also tell ur brotther to get over it.

Actually almost exactly half of straight people recognize that sexuality is genetic, or at least preborn.

The fruit fly study is pretty conclusive. We could change the sexual preference of fruit flies, generation to generation, by manipulating a single gene -- they have a simple genome -- the indication is strong that we will have a complex of genes leading to the same result depending on penetrance. In fact, there is no reason to think that something that is genetic in a lower species is non-genetic in a higher species.

Kind thoughts,

Reyn

Homosexual behavior is a choice, just as heterosexual behavior is a choice. However, orientations are not chosen.
There really isn't any proof that a homosexual orientation is biologically predetermined; however, I do believe, as many studies suggest, that a strong biological predisposition exists. And as the American Psychological Association states, other environmental and cognitive factors also play a key role. Understanding the effects of nature vs nurture is made difficult because, even with the gay twin studies, teasing out the distinction is hampered by the fact the the twins, in all likelihood, were raised together.

First off congrats on getting the courage to tell your brother this its not easy and a scary prospect. To your question i study psychology and psychologists subscribe to the theory it is not a choice. Its a combination of biological and environment factors that we can not control or choose. Homosexuality is considered just as normal as heterosexuality.

Personal message to your brother: "This is your brother man, it took guts and trust for him to tell you this. give him a huge hug and tell him you love him no matter what."

Not a choice. Who would choose it if it were an option. Let's seer be treated as a second class citizen, ridiculed constantly, denied thousands of rights.... Yeah sounds fun to me where do I sign up?

I don't think it's exactly genetic, but it's just part of how your brain is formed. Or it could be hormonal. Identical twins don't always have the same sexual orientation. One can be straight and one gay.

No one knows for sure.

If your brother is so sure homosexuality is a "choice," ask him when he chose to be straight. When did he first look at a woman, and say to himself,"That's for me, I wanna chase that forever."

If he still doesn't get it, just wish him away into a cornfield.

Your brother should use his brain and think if he would give up what he loves for something he did not.
OUr passion for men is as strong as his for whatever he loves and no less.

Tell your brother he is a moron. He obviously doesn't know anything about sexuality. I am proud that you are the smart brother and know that nobody chooses their orientation!
