Terms For Senator

No. Senators are supposed to be removed from the pressures of reelection. Their 6 year terms insulate them from the immediate tension over whatever melodrama has captured the nation. This is supposed to lead to less erratic legislation. It doesn't always work, but shorter terms would make the situation far worse. If you are referring to term limits, it will never happen. The Senate would have to vote that in, and why would anyone choose to lose his or her job? Would you? I doubt it. Anyway, the problem is not that Senators stay in office too long. It's that the American people don't educate themselves on the way their representatives vote. If they did, we would see far more turnover. But we don't. This is partially the fault of the media. This is partially the fault of the average American voter, who is incredibly lazy and apathetic.

They aren't limited to any number of terms. Senators serve 6 year terms and can be reelected indefinitely.
