Typically, there is no difference in content between the original game and the Greatest Hits version, because Sony frowns on doing that (their logic being that if it became habit, people wouldn't by the original games in the first place, and then there wouldn't be a Greatest Hits version at all).
Later versions of the original San Andreas, as well as the Greatest Hits version, would have had the Hot Coffee segemtns completely removed from the game code. But that should be the only difference.

There are no differences that I know of between "greatest hits" games and the original ones. I'd say go for which ever one has the best quality and price :P

The price may drop, but they sometimes add things that theyt deleted from the original.
In Mechassault, the original could be modded, but Platinum Hits couldn't be modded as much.

It's a cheaper re-release with some additional content. They do this to keep up their sales figures, it's nothing more than a marketing trick. It usually works.

as far as i know the difference is one says greatest hits on the box and the other doesnt, i dont believe there is any game difference.
