Before a boy is born, his testicles are located way back inside his belly. At about the 29th week of gestation, they slowly descend into the scrotum. In about four percent of baby boys, one testicle will be undescended – meaning it didn’t “drop” like the other one and is still in the pelvic cavity. The vast majority of undescended testicles will gradually drop into the normal position by the time the baby is a year old (in one-year-old boys, only 0.7% of testicles are undescended). If the testicle doesn’t assume the normal position by age one, it can be brought down surgically.

As a baby grows in the womb, the testicles develop in the infant's abdomen and drop down into the scrotum during the last months before birth. In some newborns, however, one or both testicles do not move down into their proper position. About half of these cases will descend within the first year of life without medical treatment.

Undescended testicle repair surgery is recommended for patients whose testicles do not descend on their own.

This surgery is recommended for infants older than 1 year whose testicles have not descended into the scrotum (cryptorchidism).

i asked that same question and just took my 7 yr old in to have "them" checked as they seem to be hiding most of the time (which they say is normal)
anyway, there is a way for them to check...and most of the time, they say that they can tell if there is a problem by the time they are about 1 1/2 or 2 yrs old...but, that boys even up to 12 have had to question it. either way, don't let it go with a
"they're fine" - i would make them check every six months or so...and if at some point, you get concerned, ask to see a pediatric urologist just to rule out anything serious or long term. turns out, my son ended up at the urologist and they found something else altogether....and "the boys" were fine...just shy....as they say!!!
hope it all works out

ok, merely after analyzing the different replies, please understand which you cant merely call the college and insist they defend your son from a bully on a weekend bike-journey. i think of you have accomplished the main suitable factor so a good distance by confronting the mummy and dad and eliminating your son from the aptitude to be bullied (by getting his acquaintances come over). in case you come for the time of this actual newborn back and the mummy nonetheless helps her son like its no massive deal, then i might call the government and consult with them approximately probably pressing costs in the adventure that your son is bodily harmed. If that is going on on the thank you to and from college, certainly, call the college and enable them to renowned what's happening. They do carry some accountability on your newborn to get abode effectively, yet there incredibly isnt a lot they might do off college grounds. they are going to be keen that may well be useful you, nevertheless.

If they do not drop by age 2 you need to take him to see his doctor. My cousin's 5 year-old had to have surgery last year for this.
