For the bashers, I'll save you the trouble:
-You don't need talent to rap
-My rabbit could do it. Try making REAL music
-"Insert idiotic post here"

Getting back to the point, what's up with that? I remember when I was a kid and I was just gettin into basketball, I, and many others I'm sure, was like "I'm gonna be in the NBA"...but reality struck. I mean, why doesn't reality seem to strike as hard with hip-hop? If you know you're not gonna contribute anything to advance the game, then what's the point? The obvious answer is monetary motivation, but could it possibly be deeper than that?

Youre right I think for the most part people just want the lifestyle you know the money the girls the wild partys. But they dont want to do anything to get there so they just hope that one day Jay-z or somebody will be haning out in the trap and hear them and want to sign them. So they dont ever get off their ass and do more to be more.

The sad truth is because they will still clap even if you are wack!!

So cats who before would get booed off the stage for biting, sounding like the next guy, or just being all around wack dont ever get the reality handed too them...and the TV doesnt make it better bc too many cats think that they get signed and suddenly they are on easy street....the truth is people arent even in it for the love anymore....just the false hope of making millions...

And the sad truth that in most communities where sports and music are the only successful outlets in life, the kids are never giving the chance to be a success in a REAL career...the deck is stacked against them from the get go...so we need to educate the youth so they can see more than just 2 options available to them...

Like Jeru said....What will our children be without proper guidance....Probably nothing...So aint the devil happy....

I feels u I actually wantred 2 be in the NBA or NFL when I was younger but you do have a very small chance. It's okay to have a goal towards being a rapper, or NBA star, as long as you have a backup goal. Thats why its important to great in school. I sometimes think that I want to be a rapper too. I actually love Hip-Hop more than I love sports. But I know thats also a very small chance but listening to 2days stuff it seems pretty easy. I mean I don't have a 4 sure goal. I always thought about being plenty of other things that I enjoy or I might enjoy. But I don't have one that I'm directly trying to go into. Writing rhymes is one of my hobbies & so is playing basketball & football. I don't really trip off being a pro off them I just do them 4 fun. A lot of us always think about being either a professional athlete, or a rapper. We never dream about being doctors, teachers, politicians or none of that. I admit that I don't neither. I used to see myself being an athlete or a rapper. I don't want to be those things just for the fame & money though I'm really into those things. But I won't trip if I'm not a pro. I also wanted to be a music critic, music producer, history teacher, & I can go on on a few other things. lol.

I agree, FAR too many unskilled ppl want to be rappers, I'm an old skool hip hop junkie, I love the music and I believe if you gonna even touch a mic you better come w/ some NEXT level SKILLS. Part of the problem is the commercialization of the music/culture. Although on one hand it's a good thing, it shows some sort of "acceptance" of rap as a REAL FORM of MUSIC.But it's also diluting it. Too many busters think that a few simple rhymes is rappin.

I don't think I can be a rapper, but I *DO* however, wanna be a Music Producer but I *KNOW* the chances of that happening are really slim... Does that mean I'm gonna stop trying to make beats tho? HELL TO THE NAW! Music is my passion, but its not my priority, its a hobby. School is my priority and its gonna stay that way unless something *MAJOR* happens with the music thing. And contrary to belief, there is a good number of 'aspiring rappers' who feel the same way as me... Just cuz we live in reality don't mean we can't dream... we just gotta stay grounded in the process

Take 50 For Example I Was Reading A Magazine And He said he got in the business to make money. He doesn't care about music at all. It's all about "diversifying your portfolio". His CDs are just one more product of the 50 Cent Corporation, including clothing, perfume, Vitamin Water, etc.

i was kinda in the same boat as u...when i was real little that was my dream to play in the NBA, then i really realized you only have like 1 in 10,000 chance to make it....i know alot of people who wanna be rappers, i might a drop a few lines on here every now and again but thats not what i wanna do for a livin..i guess some people have "immortal" lifestyles where they think all their dreams will come to reality. even more-so i think kids today see it as a get rich quick scheme

I think most people think they can be rappers more than athletes because there are no physical limitations on being a rapper. Also some people now a days do rap for the luv of music, the do it for the luv of money.
