What causes them to do this?

You have to always remember to believe in yourself. Most people are fearful and that is how they will respond to your hopes and dreams. It is not that they don't want you to succeed, but they answer you by putting their selves in your shoes instead of you in your shoes.

People are selfish, they want good things to happen to them and do not care about others. If something good happens to another, they try to screw it up out of jealousy. Some people are unhappy with their lives and think that means that everyone else should be unhappy too.

It's a hateful world out there and some people are miserable and misery loves company. Plus jealousy. Don't let them make you bitter.

People are so intent on crushing other people's hopes and dreams because they never fulfilled their own dreams and misery enjoys company; they are secretly jealous of you obtaining something they couldn't.

they say misery loves company...and usually the people that try to do in others dreams are miserable in some way or another and (subconsciously) want everyone else to go through what they are going through...watch out for those ones...they can get ugly

Some people are unhappy and insecure inside. They cant stand to see anyone succeed or be happy because they are not. dont let anyone steal from you.

some people can't be happy unless they cause others pain and discomfort,.... yeah i was one of those people, and sadly you really can't change it but I am trying not to be like that. any ways. if they aren't like that then they are just plain A**H***s and you shouldn't ever ever! let them get you down

They realized that they can't do that so they don't want anyone else to live that fantasy of theirs. Just keep at it! I still push on and frankly in my opinion they can just bite me if they don't like it!

Because they are jealous and they don't have lives, and they don't have any dreams of their own, or their dreams died and they want yours to die too to make themselves feel better.

Jealousy or lack of understanding. If it's not their dreams then yours won't matter.
