Okay, normally I would never ever do this, but I'm seriously tapped for time (my mom is in the hospital and so I've had to babysit), I totally spaced to write this and only did my sketches, and this is due in my art class first thing in the morning.

The first person who answers with a good short paragraph that answers the question "What is Art?" will get best answer and I'll star 5 of your questions.

Please and thank you, peach and love. :]

ps- I probably won't get the chance to be online again soon, so if you don't get best answer until a couple of days later, don't worry, I'll still give it to you, just be patient.

You don't have time to write a short paragraph about art, yet you have time to post a question on yahoo answers. Yeah right.

If your teacher types in whatever answer you choose her as "the best" she will easily find it using google, and you will get in major trouble for cheating. Just do your own work and think for yourself.

Today the questions What is Art? and What is an Artist? today are not easily answered.
According to William Rubin, director of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, "there is no single definition of art." The art historian Robert Rosenblum believes that "the idea of defining art is so remote [today]" that he doesn't think "anyone would dare to do it."
It is easier to describe it as the way something is done -- "the use of skill and imagination in the creation of aesthetic objects, environments, or experiences that can be shared with others" -- rather than what it is.

good luck

Art is ones expression. Ones personal view of a thought or a view. One persons art is very much like a signature, if you look hard enough you can tell who composed it by their other pieces of work. It's a way to make a statement that you may otherwise not of been able to make. Allot of people that are into art as a hobby, a way of life, or even for personal gain if you dig deep enough it is how they speak out when they can't do it in words.
So to sum up what art is. It's a view of what's around you & inside you coming out in ones own perspective, another language in itself.

I can't I'd be putting my thoughts in your head; that's wrong. but whatever:

Some peple believe art is only limited to things like paitings and sculptures. But I believe that art is everywhere, both in the outside world and inside ourselves. Some peple belive something first must be beautiful to be considered art. But I believe otherwise; art is not a beauty pageant, and art is not petty. Art makes us see, stirs us, awakens us, touches us. Art can make us found and lost at the same time. Art is pain, loss, joy, and every feeling in between. While us humans stutter for the words, art declares it quietly effortlessly and--perfectly.

this is MY idea of art.

Art refers to a diverse range of human activities and artifacts, and may be used to cover all or any of the arts, including music, literature and other forms. It is most often used to refer specifically to the visual arts, including mediums such as painting, sculpture, and printmaking. Aesthetics is the branch of philosophy which considers art.
