Have the first dance together, after the wedding speeches? They used to call it the first waltz.

If so, what was the name of the music you chose?

It's a custom in the USA. My husband and I had a marriage in a nearby state in a pastor's home, so we had no formal wedding. A friend gave us a reception at her resturant/club later that night with family and friends though. I don't remember what we danced to, but I know we weren't alone on the dance floor.

I never had a formal, traditional wedding. My first was just me, him, two witnesses and a judge in the courthouse. My second was in a chapel, with six or so members of my immediate family. My third was in the woods, overlooking the ocean, hippie style, no dancing.

I just got back from a wedding in Boston last week-end and the bride and groom had the first dance to a special song they had picked. Then the groom danced with his mother to a special song. The bride then danced with her dad to "Isn't she lovely." Sorry, I can't remember to other songs they danced to.
