Would the lack of tides wreak havoc? Any other problems that I'm not anticipating? Just curious if we really need the moon.

Apart from it beng almost impossible the following would happen
1. We would be bombarded by meteorites so much that life on the earth could be compromised.
2. There would be no more eclipses - lunar or solar
3. There would be no more tides
4. "One small step for man" would have a completely different meaning
5. The cow would have nothing to jump over
6. The man on the moon would have to have somewhere alse to live - maybe Mars?

Well, for one thing, everyone would have to throw away all of their Calendars because there would be no more months, no full Moons, no Lunar Eclipses, etc., etc.

Tide Flows would cease to exist so many coastal areas would experience destruction of sea life which depends
upon the constant renewal of sea water ebbing and flowing to obrain nutrients (food). Most shellfish would be affected. So
you could say goodbye to most Oysters and Clams.

The Earth would be shaded by the enormous cloud of debris in space if the Moon was destroyed. This vast shading by dust and debris would lower the temperature of the Earth significantly and cause global freezing to an extent not seen before...possibly as in another Ice Age. Reduced sunlight would affect all greenery from wood products to agricultural products and most likely mass starvation would result in a very short time period. Mass freezing might come first.

If the moon blew up it may exchange into very risky for the earth. the enormous products could be pulled in the direction of the earth because of the fact of gravity, inflicting severe and unsafe meteor showers. interior the movie The Time gadget, at one factor the moon is breaking aside and it actual seems extremely cool, in basic terms for reference

Some areas would end up underwater, some of the sea floor would get uncovered. Any animal that depends on the tides would die or adapt. Big meters (chunks of the moon) would hurtle towards the earth...

ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE RIGHT, BUT THEY ARE MISSING ONE IMPORTANT POINT.AND THAT IS THAT IS THAT EARTH AND MOON BALANCE EACH OTHERS GRAVITATIONAL FORCES.
THE EARTH IS TILTED ON IT'S AXIS A BIT, AND THIS IS DUE TO THE LARGE DISTANCE BETWEEN MOON AND EARTH.

AS YOU KNOW THAT IN NORTH AND SOUTH POLE, THERE IS 6-MONTH DAY & 6- MONTH NIGHT. THIS IS DUE TO THE TILT.
AND IF THE MOON IS DESTROYED, THE EARTH WOULD TILT EVEN FURTHER ON IT'S AXIS. THINKING HOW WOULD IT AFFECT YOU? BUT MY DEAR THIS WILL AFFECT YOU A LOT.
THIS WILL LEAD TO SIX MONTHS DAY AND SIX MONTHS NIGHT ALL OVER THE GLOBE.

IN THE SIX MONTH LONG NIGHT, THE OCEANS OF THAT SIDE WOULD FREEZE, AND THE SIDE TOWARDS THE SUN WOULD DRY UP.
AND WHEN THE FREEZED OCEANS EXPOSE TO SUNLIGHT, AFTER SIX MONTHS, ICE WILL MELT, AND THE OTHER SIDE OF THE EARTH WILL BE FLOODED COMPLETELY.

IN THIS WAY LIFE ON EARTH WILL END.

THE SAME FOLLOWS IF MOON MOVES AWAY FROM EARTH. AND THE MOON IS INDEED MOVING AWAY FROM THE EARTH DAY BY DAY, BUT AT A SLOW SPEED.

LOVE SCIENCE!

We (humans) need the Moon like flowers need the rain.
If someone blew it up, it would make one he11 of a mess, indeed.
The forces needed to blow up an object that size are beyond our capabilities, though, Thank You Very Much.
Life on this little rock would eventually cease.

Bummer.

The moon equalizes the climates of earth, so without it imagine your home town climate changing from desert to tundra every other day. Pretty much all vegetation and animal life would be wiped out.

Well, life on this planet would not have started without it.

As to what would happen if someone blew it up...

About 40% of the debries would impact the Earth - some sooner, some later. The remainder would form a nice ring system.

I wouldn't want to be outside if someone did that.

Come to think of it, I wouldn't want to be on the PLANET if someone did that.

Can you say "Extinction Level Event"?

the earth would tilt further on it's axis, causing all sorts of mayhem. Global climate disruptions on a massive scale.
