How about "Why do artists become famous after they die?" You know, singers, actors as well as painters. You could still paint. I heard Vincent Van Gogh never made a dime painting while he was alive.

I think it's a great topic.

The answer may seem a little on the obvious side - i.e., now that the painter's life is a "closed book", then his/her body of work is now closed as well, and there will never be any more of them. But there are great things to explore, here: You can get into supply and demand. You can get into psychological aspects of things seeming more valuable due to rarity. You can even get into stock prices that are based on real information the first time the company goes public, then from there, the price is based on fear and greed. Why? It's all human emotion, cooperation, and agreement that drives the value of things What is a dollar worth? Whatever you and I agree it's worth.

You can have a lot of fun with this one.
