Great Question !
I don't really blame any party or administration, it's just always been a low priority during times of war,..when it's needed most.
The Veterans of the War of 1812, had to wait for years, until General"Stonewall" Jackson was elected president, before they got their "40 acres and a Mule" they were promised on enlistment.
My Great, great, great Grandpa was one of those Vet's, and he and thousands of others made their way to Washington DC, where they built a shanty-town on the Mall, and stayed
'til they got paid.
* To the Lady who said "Democrats were in power after Vietnam,....better check your History book, I think it was Tricky Dick, and a Republican Congress who were screwing Us at the end of that fine conflict !

You show you don't have a real grasp of reality. They do not have unlimited funds for the war. They have the amount of money that the Senate and House is willing to approve for use. The President can request how much he wants but it is the sole duty of the Congress to approve that money. As far as the VA, while it is true it is underfunded and has been for decades not just during this administration, the real problem is the bloated beauracracy and ineffecient use of those funds. If you want a great snapshot of what socialized medicine will look like just look at the VA.

they have interior the previous. yet you do no longer basically say your gonna decrease protection spending. you will desire to flow with what variety of protection tension tension you like first. What means you like. then you definately fund that means. interior the 1990's. we decreased the army from 18 Divisions right down to 11 Divisions. Thats while the national shelter and reserves have been reorganized. And many of the militaries help jobs have been placed interior the Reserves, to maintain the main try against means interior the protection tension. of course meaning that every time the energetic duty forces are deployed, the reserves would desire to be activated and deployed to help them. we've because of the fact found out, we decrease the protection tension to plenty interior the 1990's, thats why the army has grown by employing 70,000 and the Marine Corps by employing 20,000. So while talking approximately cuts interior the protection budget. You first would desire to flow with, merely what we would like a protection tension able to doing.

The VA just got a budget increase. While there are many veterans that do need the system there are many of those trying to scam the system for a free ride. The VA is what a government run health care would look like. Pay attention. Money does not grow on trees, and try to fire any of the worthless personnel that work at the VA. You can't.

Because Liberals control the purse strings now. Congress spends the war has nothing to do with VA funding so you question compares apples and oranges and you do not understand the system. Congress spends the money. What irritates you is you can't cut off funding for a War you oppose but your leadership can't close the deal.

You might stop and realize every govt agency has a budget. Every year, funds are appropriated b ased on what that agency estimates it needs.
If an aggency runs short on funds, congress van pass an emergency appropriation.
By the way, what's the military appropriations committee doing, can anyone tell me?

First of all, there is no such thing as "unlimited funds." Second, this is just another sad example of how Government screws everything up, even something as noble and justified as taking care of our wounded vets. When bureaucracy and red tape are involved, everyone's standard of living is lowered and everyone suffers.
If you would like the same wonderful medical treatment our vets have, simply vote Hillary in '08.

I know many veterans that have been taken care of for years after leaving service even if they had an accident later that wasn't connected to being in the service. They felt like they had very good care. Of course I am sure some of them might not be as good as others, I don't think you should generalize on all of them.

Have you ever been to a VA Hospital?
I have in Tampa Florida. I had absolutely no problems getting health care. None. In fact it was just as effeciant as going to a regular hospital.
Not all VA Hospitals have problems. Mainly just Walter Reed.
Don't believe? Ask this question and see what other veterans say.:
"Have you ever received medical care from a VA Hospital? If so, what were the service and quality of care like?"
