More people are being tased because more and more police officers are LAZY.

I carried a badge for 5 years in the housing projects of Norfolk, VA, Chesapeake, VA, and Newport News, VA. 95% of my arrests were made with out the use of tasers, pepper spray, or any other wimpy devices. These arrests were made using proper techniques in restraining, and securing the perps.

As for Bushes "police" state? Grow up.

How is it George W. Bush fault if a person is being tasered by police? After all, George W. Bush is not a police officer or an attorney general of any US State. He is not even the Attorney General of the United States of America. So why do you believe people are getting tasered by President Bush when he is not in Law Enforcement?

The use of the taser has nothing to do with the Bush administration. When I went through the class to become certified it was strongly recommend to experience what it felt like. Honestly it hurt, and would not want experience it again. The reason for this was that the officer would know the pain he could and would inflict on the subject, and hopefully not take the use of a taser lightly. However I have seen officers who would use the taser any chance they got, and that is something that would be the case regardless of the weapon of choice be it pepper spray, taser, asp, or gun. More people are being tased because more departments are using them as a non-lethal use of force to gain control of uncooperative subjects in situations where other force would have to be used if the taser was not available, often times lethal.

The current political climate does favor a strong police response, but I really think the taser is being used more now because more police forces have it to use. And being tasered is better than getting shot!

???? You really should see someone about the effects of pathological hate... it can destroy you from the inside. No one is as powerful and evil as you attribute President Bush. Perhaps you would rather the Police use their batons to beat the perp bloody or their guns and shoot him? Or perhaps you think that no control at all should take place... let anarchy rule?

That is ridiculous. I am a Christian Conservative and a Bush supporter. My son goes to UF and voted Republican last year. Yet I had an emailed letter to campus police yesterday morning before 8 a.m.
Tasers should only be used when a person has become a physical threat, not just a big-mouthed, rude, annoying idiot.

I fail to see how getting tasered on a liberal campus in front of a bunch of liberals while speaking to a liberal who is a professional protester is "Bush's fault."

But of course you'll keep grabbing at straws out of blind hatred, won't you?

Quit wasting everyone's time.

I'd've cheered for a face full of capsicum as well.

Hey, the kid wanted to earn his activist stripes....

don't blame this on Bush, Kerry was at the podium. Bush had nothing to do with it. And when we are ever a real police state YOU will know it. We are far from anything close.
