I'm a teacher in California and know that if you have a credential from out of state, you'll have to go to school to meet California State requirements for teacher credentialing. If you know which state you're going to move to, then you might want to wait and get your credential there, or just make sure you take the courses that will meet that states requirements. Check before you waist thousands of dollars on schooling...

If you are going to school in a state that is not the one you plan on teaching in then you need to check with your home state (or one you want to teach in) for the requirements. Most will all want a bachelors in some sort of education. But specific certifications vary from state to state. You may have to take a different test that most other education students in Wisconsin.

Get your degree wherever you want, but keep in mind the requirements (most states are basically the same, but may vary slightly) for the state teaching certificate in the state where you plan to teach. You could also get a state certificate in Wisconsin, to show when you apply in another state, but it isn't really necessary since you have to be certified by the state you teach in.

Every state has its own requirements. If you're already certified to teach in 1 state - you need to contact the state you're going to in order to find out their requirements. Some have reciprocity - or minimal additional requirements you need to do to become certified in that state. Search for state ed websites or teaching certification requirements - they should explain it for you.
