Actually no.
Back in time when I was a full-time hair designer..
I went through a black wearing faze when I broke up with my ex husband in the 1980's. It went on for three years.
People thought it was a "style" and thought I looked cool. Someone that I worked with tried to copy my style and looked ridiculous. She went from wearing baby pink to black. I felt like my black worked for me because it was how I was feeling inside at the time.
I didn't wear black nail polish or lipstick, but every piece of clothing, lingerie and accessories had to be black. I colored my hair blue black and wore dark blue eyeliner.
I got out of it when my maternal grandmother told me that I was too young to be wearing black all of the time.
I listened to her suggestion just before she passed away four years after that. By then, I had moved on to happier colors. I wore a beautiful blue dress to her funeral and though I still love wearing black, I try to add purple or jewel tones or iridescent colors to make it more magical. There something very mysterious about black.
I do have a Gothic wig (Lily Munster). I wore a couple of times when I sing but I don't wear it anymore because it does have a creepy dark vibe.
I also discovered after the fact, I read an article that suggested that when someone wears black all of the time, they are subconsciously mourning something in their life. I believe that notion is true.
I hope I answered your question.

It really depends on the style of clothes you wear. You can wear nice black clothes and not look gothic.

No. I have black nail polish on my toes right now and I'm not considered "goth". Besides, I think wearing black makes people look thiner.

if it did, then all of New York City would be considered goth. NYC is known for wearing lots of black. but now it doesn't make you goth. i wear black all the time and I am more preppy with a bit of ecclectic thrown in for good measure.

Nope, black can make you look classical sometimes. Well, it also depends on the type of dresses.
