Anyone who values freedom, be they domestic or foreign, can be my friend.
Anyone who values authoritariansim, be they domestic or foreign, is my potential enemy.
Israel, like the U.S., and Australia, and a couple of other nations, are bastions of light in a world of madness, socialism, communism, authoritarianism and other evils.

We are taught to defend ourselves and our Allies all over the world. Who taught you that you must complete Hitler's Final Solution to the Jewish Problem?

No one.
It's in OUR interests to defend Israel.
To heck with Israel. We have no reason to defend them just because they are Israel. They've even given us grief at times. Had to chase them away from Egypt during the Suez Canal Crisis.
We need the base in the Middle East, we need the ally against Islamic terrorism. We need the friend in a very unfriendly area. We need the scientific cooperation.
Why?

i'm not isrealis as guilty as palestine, iraq, iran, and anyone else that uses religion to control people. hmm tos in bush for that matter

Israeli's survival is in our interest. Therefore, no matter what we do to preserve that fact is in fact in our interest, therefore this question is pointless.

Well Israel is a formidable enemy, do you really want them against us...after all they stold nuclear power so what else do you think they are capable of?
...keep your enemies close, even if you pretend they are your friend.
