I am thinking of moving to San Francisco bay area and was wondering how much it would cost for moorage, etc, per month. I know how much boats run but I'm not sure about living costs. Thanks!

Update: I currently live in Seattle. I'm looking to go down there, not stay up here. Good idea about calling them; I tried emailing one place but never got a reply. It's hard finding out this information myself because I really don't know where to start looking.

I live aboard a 38' boat on SF Bay. Live aboard slips are difficult to find here on The Bay. Get on as many waiting lists as you can. Check with every harbormaster.
We pay $275/Mo slip fee, $150/Mo live aboard fee and $20 to $60 / Mo for electricity.

I moved my boat and dive business out of s.f. in the 80's because it got too expensive. Guess where I moved> Seattle
Best place I found was on the olympic pen. I know this doesnt help on monthly cost but I wouldnt be accurate.
But please think about liveaboard rules in the bay area are some of the strictist. I know it is easy to do but those marina 's are cracking down.
Good Luck

In San Francisco bay the harbor charges plus taxes for 1 year will probably exceed the cost of your boat, you may be better off moving to Oregon or Washington.

A lot! SF is one of the most expensive areas to live in the country. You can call any of the many marinas (or look them up online) for prices per ft.

look up some of the marina's in the area and e-mail them, or call the area code of the city in question and call them to ask
