I just bought some RAM and my PC will not read it. The order form that came with my PC when I purchased it says my PC has DDR SDRAM 512MB (PC3200 Samsung) already in it. i wanted 512 more so when I went to the shop, and showed them my form, they pointed at some RAM for me to buy>D2PC400CL25-512MB (PC3200). i trusted the PC dude and when i got home and installed the RAM, my PC would not recognize it was there. this is very frustrating, i even tried putting the RAM in a different way and it made my PC not turn on so i just basically took the RAM out full of hatred and rage. is this the right type of RAM for my PC? did i get the wrong type?

Usually happens if the 2nd RAM slot has been empty and has accumulated dust. Try cleaning the slot with a small paint brush. W/ PC unplugged, reseat the new module twice before locking.

You can actually test that new module on the slot occupied by the old RAM stick. If it does not work, return it for warranty.

I had the same thign happen to me, I bought my puter and got extra ram from sales person took it home and no worky. Check to make sure you don't have DIMM if you do then you need 2 sticks of 256 ( dimm has to be put in pairs)
I ended up selling my 512mb on ebay just so I could get the pairs that I needed.

possible problem:
1.you got bad ram, go to the shop and return it.(to test it, take out your old ram, plug the new one and see how things work)
2.if your new ram is good, try put it on another ram slot in your mobo.
