"Until the end" -- what end?

The middle east has been embroiled in violence for thousands of years. The current conflict has been going on for hundreds of years -- and the US just got involved 6 years ago.

"The end" of the conflict is likely centuries away -- at best decades before the next major lull in the violence.

What possibly benefit can the US expect to get that justifies -- not just the deaths of countless US soldiers and civilians over the next few decades -- but the continued over-extension of our financial and military resources that renders us unable to cope with any other situation that might occur?

If we choose to stay in the middle east at our current level of commitment, we're making the choice that will be the only battle we fight in -- and the only theatre we operate effectively in -- for at least the next decade.

What possible benefit can we expect to get that justifies that level of commitment?

The US should stay until the end. Things are getting better, not worse. The muslim crazies do not have the money, manpower or resources to defeat the US.

Right, we should just leave and hope that they leave us alone. What a brilliant plan. No, we need to stay and fight and keep troops in the ME as a deterrent to attack.

If they go there will be trouble, and if they stay it will be double.

(gotta love the clash, but its true)

We need to pull out.. but slowly.
