Well i think the US should not ban Chinese exports just because of a few reports of tainted products. Yes, there were some products that posed a real health concern for the public but that should not be enough to put down Chinas reputation as a long reliable source of export.
We've been doing business with China since forever and there were few problems here and there but other countries had similar problems with their products to be imported here too hell even we have problems with out own products so why should we single out china as a country with low quality, hazardous products? since hearing of the contamination Chinese manufacturers have step up their safety and inspections of their products so banning products from China that has long has had 99% of imports meeting US quality standards is not going to help anybody. If you dont want to buy Chinese made products fine, but do not bash on a country just for its few mistakes!

Go right ahead. I will continue to save money at Wal_mart and buy products made in China. I have taught my children not to chew on their toys so the lead paint problem does not apply and all my pet products come from local sources. You see it isn't the job of the companies that produce things in China to give a damn about the safety of my kids, that's my job

The problem is -- China is the number 2 producer of products sold in the US -- after Canada.

Boycotting all China-made products would cause an estimated 30% drop in consumer activity -- which would plummet the country into a major recession, at best.

Also, consider that roughly the same number of US-made products have had major recalls over the past year -- so it's not something unique to China.

China is our enemy..

Wake up Americans..Take our US factories out of China. Send emails, call or visit: your Senators, Reps in Congress, and the CEO's of american companies. They are selling out America for profits by getting in bed with the Evil Chinese empire and Military. They are rapidly building their military and each product you buy is financing that buildup. We are financing our own destruction.

Their friends are Russia and Iran..If we are giving them all this money you would think we would be a good friend...However, they treat us as an adversary. They are stealing military secrets, spying on us like crazy, hacking our government computers, shooting satellites out of the sky(simulation of US satellites), and modernizing their military at an alarming rate.

Even the U.S. military top brass thinks they are a real threat...

The U.S. Air Force Secretary, drawing an unusually explicit link to China, said on Wednesday the United States should stick with a $299 billion plan to buy more than 2,400 Lockheed Martin Corp F-35 fighter jets.

Michael Wynne, who runs the Air Force as its top civilian, rejected a prominent research group's call to consider slashing by as much as half the planned purchase -- the Pentagon's costliest weapons-buying plan.

"How big do you think China is?"

Wynne said China's shootdown of one of its own weather satellites had been intended as a warning to the United States.

The Jan. 11 use of a ground-based ballistic missile to destroy a low-orbit satellite was "just to tell us -- little message: 'Don't think you're safe up there. Space is not a sanctuary any more'."

I think the US should boycott all products made in sweatshops or at the price of slavery. However, let's be realistic isn't that what NAFTA did, condone paying 30 cents an hour to foreign workers instead of paying minimum wage to US citizens for products. I always try to look for US made products, but I can't find many.
