Think about where you would be if you do well in this job and are able to advance in it. Most employers like to hear an answer that reflects loyalty to the company and a desire on your part to grow with the company, to stay there for a while, and be an asset to the company. They probably don't want to hear an answer that suggests you will have moved on and be working somewhere else. They do want to hear that you have ambition and a strong work ethic.

Hope these thoughts help.

i have most often heard that one should answer this question with: i see myself working with (name of company with which you are currently interviewing) in a (name a high up position you aspire to or at least one close to it). and then say something really brown-nosey about how great you think that company is. this shows that you have confidence, know how to bs (haha), and you also are showing some initiative - if you are aspiring to a higher position than what you are applying for, the interviewer knows that you are willing to work to move up the ladder. i hope this helps and i hope the interview goes well :)

Ask yourself that question and see what your answer is. They don't want some canned response that you have practiced. And trust me, they will figure it out if you are just stating something that you think they want to hear.

Obviously the best answer would not be "...fully retired at age 35 and laying on the beach..."

Seriously, the best thing to do is to ask yourself that question.

So....Where do you want to be in 5 years?

It depends on the job and the field. I would say that I want to own the company eventually, but realistically in 5 years be further up the ladder whatever the job is you're interviewing for. Or maybe tell them that you want to be in their job.

Be truthful ,but dont give up your job! LOL.
I hope to continue my education and advance within the company. That is one reason why I think this will be a good fit for both of us. There is room for growth.

I'd say..."I see myself being successful, but dont make any big plans..I take one day at a time and see where that leads me."

Say that you are wanting to continue your growth both at work and personally.

you really don't know because you just want to focus on doing a good job for now, but you'll keep an open mind and if an opportunity for advancement falls onto your lap, you will definitely welcome it.
