if its like y = 3x + 1
then the y-intercept would be 1.
because slope-intercept form is y = mx + b, and b is the y-intercept. so how would you find the x-intercept of that equation????

for x-intercept you put y=0 and you get
y=b
for y-intercept you put x=0 and you get

0=mx+b and solve for x

x-intercept is the intersection with x-axis, that is way you have y=0 and
y-intercept is the intersection with y-axis, that is why you have
x=0

The x-intercept is the point where it crosses the x-axis. That's also where y = 0. So set y = 0 and solve for x.
0 = 3x + 1, so x = -1/3. That would be the x-intercept.

To find the x intercept just put 0 for y and solve.
0=3x+1
3x=-1
x=-1/3

The x-intercept is -1/3

Just set y=0 and solve for x.
0 = 3x+1
-1 = 3x
x = -1/3
The x-intercept is (-1/3,0)

right now the equation is in the wrong form to find the x intercept
try point slope form or standard form.
i can't quite remember which one. algebra was last year.
i am 60 percent sure it's standard form,though
if you really can't figure it out,
graph the equation based on the slope and see where it intersects on the x axis
I believe in this case the x-axis is -1 but im not sure YOU HAVE TO CHECK
