I would actually like thumbs up more.

Thumbs up means more in my opinion.
I have had questions that I have put alot of effort and research into, and then the asker chooses an answer like, a one word answer like YES, or NO, simply just a smiley face and good question.
So out of curiosity i click on the profile and they just choose their friends. So it really means nothing.
BUT when you get alot of thumbs up, it means people who are interested in the question, and and are trying to get best answer liked or respected your answer.
SO in short, my answer is thumbs up is better.

I'd rather be chosen as best answer. It's possible to give thumbs-up to everybody, but the best answer can only go to one person.

Thumbs up or down, doesn't matter...
Thats actually what I like most about answers...
