I got a newborn (2 months) and me and my girlfriend have to work fulltime. I notice that child care is expensive. Any programs in California available that help parents out for child care?

Contact First Five California. They can point you to all kinds of resources for parents on a limited income including childcare and low/no cost health insurance.

Their website has some good info, but if you call them, you'll find they are so kind and helpful. We were on a limited income when my son was born, but didn't qualify for state aid. Without First Five, it would have been a lot harder to find my way around the city & county programs.

Good luck!

Early Head Start takes babies, and it's free if you are low income and both working. Look up head Start in the phone book, and ask to do a referral for Early Head Start. Family Resource and referral is another agency that helps low income families pay for daycare.

Good question a friend of mine was wondering the same. I wish I had answer but I suppose you could ask your boss he/she could probably point you in the right direction- sometimes employers know things like that.

You are just figuring out that kids are expensive? Shouldn't this have been a concern prior to getting pregnant? Sorry, I just think that maybe you should have thought about this eleven months ago.
